2025 Spring League - Baseball & Tee Ball (Co-ed)

Priority Registration opens November 1, 2024, and closes on the following dates for each division:

AAA, Majors, Intermediate, Juniors, and Seniors: January 15, 2025
AA: January 31, 2025
Tee Ball and A: March 15, 2025

Players that register after these dates may be placed on a wait list and are not guaranteed a spot.

A 10% Early Bird discount will be applied to any registrations prior to December 1, 2024.

For families registering multiple players, RUG offers a $500 family out-of-pocket maximum.

Eligibility Requirements

BIG CHANGE FOR 2025: Players at the youngest levels of Little League Baseball and Softball (League Ages 4-7) now have the ability to register for any Little League they choose, without respect to any geography- or school-related eligibility requirements. Players who register under this option will be fully eligible to participate in all aspects of league play, including All-Stars, for the duration of their Little League careers provided they have continuous and unbroken participation with the specific league where they initially registered and provided all other participation eligibility requirements have been met.

All other players League Age 8-16 will continue to utilize the current boundary requirement based on residency or school enrollment. For more information on league eligibility requirements, please visit Establishing Player Eligibility in a Local Little League.

Which Division should my child play in?

Your child's "Little League Age" determines which division(s) they are eligible for, along with skill level, experience, and where friends are playing. Please visit this webpage to determine your child's League Age.

Generally speaking, Tee Ball and Baseball Divisions are broken down as follows:

Tee Ball: League Age 4-6
A: League Ages 6-8
AA: League Ages 8-9
AAA: League Ages 9-11
Majors: League Ages 11-12
Intermediate: League Age 13
Juniors: League Ages 13-14
Seniors: League Ages 15-16

When you go to register, you will only see the divisions your player is eligible to play in according to League Age. If you would like to request your player to "move up" a division, or have any questions about which division your child should play in, please contact [email protected]. Requests to "move down" are rarely granted, out of concern for the safety of younger players.

Registration Refund Policy

Full or partial refunds are available for any registered players as follows:

AA, AAA, Majors, Intermediates, Juniors, and Seniors Divisions

Full refund minus $10 processing fee prior to Player Evaluations
80% refund prior to team's first practice
50% refund prior to team's first game
No refund after team's first game

Tee Ball and A Divisions

Full refund minus $5 processing fee prior to March 1, 2024

Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis, including injuries, relocation, etc.

Scholarships

It is RUG's belief that every child should have the opportunity to play baseball or softball regardless of their family's financial situation. Tee Ball is your child’s first entry into the awesome world of Baseball/Softball! Tee ball is a non-competitive, developmental league, where the focus is introducing the game to preschoolers and kindergartners. It’s all about having fun! Players hit off of a tee and teams bat a continuous order so that every player bats and runs the bases each inning. Kids rotate between defensive positions so that every child experiences playing each position. Games are generally three innings long.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a drop-off program. Parents and/or older sibling are expected to help during games and at practices, especially at this level. Tee Ball can be like herding cats, and your team manager/coaches will appreciate any help they can get!

LEAGUE AGES: Mostly five- and six-year-olds in final year of preschool or kindergarten. Four-year-olds are welcome if child is physically ready and mature enough to play a team sport.

ELIGIBLE BIRTHDAY RANGE: 9/1/2019 to 8/31/2021. If your child’s birthday is outside of this date range and they wish to play in this division, please contact the RUG registrar at [email protected] for assistance.

PRACTICES: 1-2 per week beginning the week of March 15 until games begin in mid-April. Expect two practices/week: one weeknight and one Saturday (Sundays possible too). Practices are scheduled by the head coach based on field availability,

GAME SCHEDULE: 10-11 game season with 1-2 games/week: usually Sunday games with an occasional weeknight game scheduled as well. Games start in mid-April and run through early June. Expect schedule to be released in late March.

LOCATIONS: Most games will be played at James Baldwin Elementary, with some games potentially played at other local schools and parks.

UNIFORMS: Full uniforms are provided including jersey, pants, and cap. Players return pants at the end of the season, but keep the rest. Players need to provide their own mitt and shoes. Cleats are optional.

FIELD SIZE: Fields are pegged with 60' between bases, but throw down bases may be used at 50' for this division.

ROSTER: 9-11 boys and girls, mixed. Kids are grouped onto teams by school, neighborhood, and teammate requests. If you would like your son or daughter to be placed on a team with a specific coach or friend, please specify this during the registration process. We will do our best to accommodate requests.

A Baseball: Coach Pitch (League Ages 6-8)

Coach pitch baseball is a development league. Coach or other parent pitches to own team. Teams bat a continuous order and every player bats each inning. Players all play equal amount and rotate through all defensive positions. Games are typically 3-4 innings, time permitting. Later in the season, teams that are up for it may introduce more competition by playing 3-outs per inning and keeping score, which may allow for more innings in a game. Scores are not officially kept.

Get ready for real baseball! The AA division is the first player pitch division and umpires record balls, strikes, and outs. Each team gets the standard 3-outs per inning, and games may last up to 6 innings, but often end sooner because of time.

RUG encourages kids to be hitters, and does not play with walks in AA baseball. If a batter receives four balls, a coach or parent from the same team will come in to pitch to the batter. Regular season may include interleague play vs. teams in surrounding leagues such as Northwest Seattle LL, North Central LL, and Ballard LL.

**In order to create balanced teams and ensure proper division placement, a player assessment may be held at Jane Addams Middle School on February 8, 2025. Specific time slots are to be determined and will be communicated closer to the date.**

AGES: 8- and 9-year-olds, typically in 2nd or 3rd grade.

ELIGIBLE BIRTHDAY RANGE: 9/1/2015 to 8/31/2017. If your child’s birthday is outside of this date range and they wish to play in this division, please contact the RUG registrar at [email protected] for assistance.

GAME SCHEDULE: 12-13 game season with 1-2 games/week: usually Wednesday evenings and Saturdays (weekend start times range from 9am to 4pm). Games start the week of March 29 and run through early June, including the League Championship. Expect schedule to be released in mid-March.

LOCATIONS: Home games are played at Maple Leaf, Ravenna, and Green Lake. Interleague away games are played at fields throughout North Seattle.

FIELD SIZE: 60' between bases and 43' pitching rubber.

ROSTER: 11-12 boys and girls, mixed. Teams are formed through a draft process in late February or early March. If you have a specific request for your son or daughter to be placed on a team with another player or with a specific coach, please specify this in your registration. We will do our best to accommodate requests while still trying to create balanced teams based on the draft.

AAA Baseball: Player Pitch (League Ages 9-11)

The AAA division is the first full kid-pitch division and is both instructional and competitive with more emphasis on player development during the regular season. The goal is to prepare players for advancement to the Majors division.

Regular season may includes interleague play vs. teams in surrounding leagues such as Northwest Seattle LL, North Central LL, and Ballard LL.

**In order to create balanced teams and ensure proper division placement, a player assessment will be held at Jane Addams Middle School on February 1, 2025. Players must attend this assessment. Specific time slots are to be determined and will be communicated closer to the date.**

Majors Baseball (League Ages 11-12)

The Majors division is both instructional and competitive with more emphasis on the competitive aspects of the game vs. the AAA division. Managers focus on fielding a competitive team while also providing the players with a fun learning experience. Players should focus on refining their baseball skills with a strong emphasis on consistency. Often the difference between an average player and a strong player is the ability to consistently execute the required skills. Scores and standings are recorded on the league website with playoffs at the end of the season.

Regular season includes interleague play vs. teams in surrounding leagues such as Northwest Seattle LL, North Central LL, Ballard LL, Shoreline LL, and more.

AGES: 11- and 12-year-olds, typically in 5th or 6th grade. Some 10-year-olds may elect to "play up" in this division as well.

Intermediate "50/70" Baseball (League Age 13)

Competitive Intermediate Diamond Baseball is the first step toward Big Diamond Baseball. The field is larger than Little League play with 70' bases and a 50' pitching rubber, and this division is limited to 13-year-olds making the transition from Little League to Big Diamond Baseball.

Depending on registration numbers, RUG Little League may combine with another league rather than field its own team, and registered players will be notified of their team placement in February. Scores and standings are recorded on the league website with a district-wide playoff tournament at the end of the season.

No on-field player assessment is required for this division.

AGES: 13 year-olds, typically in 7th grade.

ELIGIBLE BIRTHDAY RANGE: 9/1/20011 to 8/31/2012. If your child’s birthday is outside of this date range and they wish to play in this division, please contact the RUG registrar at [email protected] for assistance.

GAME SCHEDULE: 18-20 game season with 3 games/week: 2 on weeknights and 1 on the weekend. Games start the week of March 22 and run through early June. Expect schedule to be released in mid-March.

LOCATIONS: Games are played at 50/70 ballfields throughout North Seattle and suburbs.

UNIFORMS & GEAR: Jerseys, socks, and cap are provided. League also provides team bats, helmets, catcher's gear, and balls. Players need to provide their own mitt, gray baseball pants, and shoes. Cleats are strongly recommended.

FIELD SIZE: 70' between bases and 50' pitching rubber.

ROSTER: 11-14 players. Teams are formed through a draft process in late February, although no on-field assessment is required. If you have a specific request for your son or daughter to be placed on a team with another player or coach, please specify this in your registration. We will do our best to accommodate requests.
